and welcome to my doll scrapbook! here, you can find pictures and reviews of various dolls and figures i own from american girls to animanga figurines.
i have been gifted many dolls since i was was little and have purchased several more. i like dolls and what they represent for me: childhood, fond memories, and the strength to be anything you want to be.
i hope you enjoy my scrapbook!

My first entry in my doll scrapbook is actually one of my latest additions to my collection! wow!
I was very fortunate to acquire this figure in person in akihabara, japan. i couldn't believe the price when i got her, and she is so beautiful!
luka is one of my favorite vocaloids. so when i saw this, i decided to snatch it up!
this figure is pvc and approximately eight inches tall. she came with a stand which she connects to via two little tiny pegs on her foot (i'm afraid they might break off but so far they've been okay!)
the sense of movement and design is amazing; the bounce of her hair and the delicacy of her pose is so pretty to look at! some parts of her (her arm and hands) seem a little fragile but she survived in a suitcase across the world so i think i can't complain too much!
construction (form):
nicely constructed but a few fragile points. gesture is very natural.
quality (appearance):
absolutely beautiful. color is saturated and blends well with one another, expression matches gesture.
craftsmanship (details):
stunning. material thickness and form varies based on real life qualities, everything is so smooth and polished.
i'm so thankful to have her!
with the purchase of my luka figure and the second figure that i got in akihabara, japan (technically the first, though, since i saw her first) is a hatsune miku figure: love sailor in purple! she is just so adorable!
i purchased luka-chan and miku-chan from the same shop. however, before i found the shop, i saw miku in a crane game arcade. i fell in love with her but i knew i couldn't win her in the game without losing all my money i was so lucky to find her in a figure shop down the street!
this figure is molded in a sitting position, meaning that she is meant to dangle her legs off of the side of a shelf or table (and it's the cutest thing ever!!). she's approximately five and a half inches tall and has so many cute details.
construction (form):
good construction but a lot of fragile points. i do have to admit that those points make her very life-like, though!
quality (appearance):
very nice! not as clean as luka (i notice a few places where the paint doesn't line up with the shape of the figure) but i arguably like the color combination better. the pink ends of her twin tails are translucent, which i cannot decide if i like or not. it just feels out of place because there are no other translucent parts on her.
craftsmanship (details):
beautiful, i would give it six stars if i could. material thickness and form varies based on real life qualities just like luka, and every time i look at her i notice something new. the wrinkles on her clothes are especially well done. she looks like she could get up and start walking!
i feel like i may being too critical in my ratings because i do really love her and i would recommend purchasing her! i just don't want to ruin her by breaking off a fragile part of her
she's just so overwhelmingly cute!! and if you don't like the purple version, there's also the blue and pink version you can add to your collection. (via imagefire)
see you next time!
i can't believe all of the doll lines i'm finding lately that are inspired by japanese street fashion! one of these lines is the decora girlz line. i have three dolls from this line: decora, celestia, and london.
first up is decora! decora is what i would call the "classic" decora girl. she stands at eleven inches tall and is fashion doll; she has removable clothing and accessories, brushable hair, and many stickers (both puffy and flat!) that are designed for both decorate decora and her owner. in my opinion, the accessories are truly what makes decora her decora style! her hair is honestly some of the softest i've ever felt on a doll. her colors are so vibrant and pretty as well!
next is celestia! i *love* celestia's hair. it is so curly and beautiful. i also love her motif of space and galaxies! truly one of the greatest motifs in fashion in my opinion :) same as decora, she is an eleven inch fashion doll with removable clothing and accessories, brushable hair, and many, many stickers. both celestia and decora come with stands which is nice! i dare say her color palette is nicer than decora's.
finally london! london is part of series one decora girlz; she is a five inch fashion doll with a passion for the 1960s. i got her in a mystery blind box. she is super cute! her clothing is similar to early 2000s polly pockets; a flexible rubber/plastic material. you can clearly tell that she is not made to the same quality as her larger friends (more like a trinket with string-y hair and cheaply made accessories). but she is still super cute and in fact, i enjoyed styling her the most!
for my ratings, i am going to do an overall rating for all three dolls.
construction (form):
decora and celestia are made fairly well! the real highlight is their hair and makeup. i took points away because their heads are so large and heavy that they are difficult to stand up even with the provided stands. london, as i mentioned before, is very cute but made rather cheaply.
quality (appearance):
good! their appearances are clearly inspired by the style they are named after. i also love their hair! i wish their smaller dolls were made of a higher quality material.
craftsmanship (details):
the decora-esque elements are the highest quality points so i believe that is most important. i really enjoy the fact that you complete their outfit! that details makes the dolls different and unique to each owner.
if you are a fan of j-fashion like me, i would recommend purchasing the larger dolls! the smaller dolls are cute with the decoration element and mystery aspect, but not really worth the money in my opinion.
if you have a decora girlz doll consider getting one, i hope you enjoy her! let me know in my guestbook which doll(s) you have.
